Jazz Rotterdam Centrum – dag 1: Alaor Soares, Marcelo Café, Rosana Brown & Nelson Latif

Alaor Soares, Marcelo Café, Rosana Brown en Nelson Latif brengen verschillende generaties en perspectieven binnen de Braziliaanse muziek samen. Vanuit de wortels van de samba verkennen zij de verbinding tussen ritme, verhaal, traditie en vernieuwing. Waar Alaor en Marcelo de kracht van de Afro-Braziliaanse muziektraditie laten horen, brengen Rosana en Nelson de poëtische en verhalende kant van samba tot leven. Na hun afzonderlijke optredens komen de vier musici samen voor een bijzondere gezamenlijke set in de Koopgoot. Met zang, gitaar en percussie ontstaat een kleurrijke ontmoeting tussen traditionele samba, de rijke Braziliaanse liedkunst en de vrijheid van improvisatie. Een warm, feestelijk concert waarin traditie, vernieuwing en speelplezier samenkomen in het hart van Rotterdam.

Tijdens Jazz Rotterdam Centrum laten Braziliaanse en in Nederland gevestigde musici je de veelzijdigheid van samba horen. Van traditionele liederen en instrumentale samba tot eigentijdse interpretaties met invloeden uit jazz en wereldmuziek. Net als Rotterdam is samba voortdurend in beweging: geworteld in traditie, maar altijd open voor ontmoeting en vernieuwing. De verschillende duo’s vertegenwoordigen zowel gevestigde namen als een nieuwe generatie artiesten. Elke speeldag mondt uit in een gezamenlijke Roda de Samba, waarin muzikanten samenkomen en de stad even verandert in een Braziliaanse ontmoetingsplek. Traditie, vernieuwing en ontmoeting – midden in Rotterdam.

Rooted in the traditions of samba, they explore the connection between rhythm, storytelling, tradition and renewal. While Alaor and Marcelo highlight the power of Afro-Brazilian musical traditions, Rosana and Nelson bring the poetic and narrative side of samba to life. Following their individual performances, the four musicians come together for a special collaborative set in the Koopgoot. With vocals, guitar and percussion, they create a vibrant meeting point between traditional samba, the rich tradition of Brazilian song and the freedom of improvisation. A warm and festive concert where tradition, renewal and musical joy come together in the heart of Rotterdam.
