DUO AJUNTÓ brengt de stem van Renata Jambeiro en de gitaar van Raphael Gomes samen in een concert dat de Afrikaanse wortels van de samba en hun doorwerking in de Braziliaanse muziek verkent. Met een repertoire dat aandacht geeft aan de Afrikaanse diaspora, vrouwelijke orixás, de rol van vrouwen binnen de samba en hedendaagse uitingen van het genre, nemen zij je mee in een intieme en krachtige muzikale ervaring. Tussen verleden en heden vieren Renata en Raphael de poëtische, spirituele en ritmische rijkdom van Afro-Braziliaanse tradities. Een optreden waarin afkomst, interpretatie en het gezongen woord centraal staan.

Tijdens Jazz Rotterdam Centrum laten Braziliaanse en in Nederland gevestigde musici je de veelzijdigheid van samba horen. Van traditionele liederen en instrumentale samba tot eigentijdse interpretaties met invloeden uit jazz en wereldmuziek. Net als Rotterdam is samba voortdurend in beweging: geworteld in traditie, maar altijd open voor ontmoeting en vernieuwing. De verschillende duo’s vertegenwoordigen zowel gevestigde namen als een nieuwe generatie artiesten. Elke speeldag mondt uit in een gezamenlijke Roda de Samba, waarin muzikanten samenkomen en de stad even verandert in een Braziliaanse ontmoetingsplek. Traditie, vernieuwing en ontmoeting – midden in Rotterdam.
DUO AJUNTÓ brings together the voice of Renata Jambeiro and the guitar of Raphael Gomes in a performance that explores the African roots of samba and their lasting influence on Brazilian music. Through a repertoire that highlights the African diaspora, female Orishas, the role of women in samba and contemporary expressions of the genre, they invite you into an intimate and powerful musical experience. Moving between memory and the present day, Renata and Raphael celebrate the poetic, spiritual and rhythmic richness of Afro-Brazilian traditions. A performance in which ancestry, interpretation and the sung word take centre stage.

During Jazz Rotterdam Centrum, Brazilian and Netherlands-based musicians invite you to discover the many faces of samba. From traditional songs and instrumental samba to contemporary interpretations infused with jazz and world music influences. Like Rotterdam itself, samba is constantly evolving: rooted in tradition, yet always open to encounter and renewal. The different duos represent both established names and a new generation of artists. Each day concludes with a shared Roda de Samba, where musicians come together and the city briefly transforms into a Brazilian meeting place. Tradition, renewal and connection — in the heart of Rotterdam.
Tijdens North Sea Round Town bruist Rotterdam van de livemuziek met Jazz Rotterdam Centrum, een serie liveconcerten in het hart van de stad. Een weekend lang vinden openluchtoptredens plaats op iconische locaties als Central Plaza, Kruiskade, (Korte) Lijnbaan, Binnenwegplein, Coolsingel, Hoogstraat, Koopgoot, Beursplein en WTC-shops. Overal duikt muziek op waar je het niet verwacht. Verschillende bands vullen de stad met warme grooves, jazzy vibes en Braziliaanse ritmes, met samba als rode draad door het programma. Jazz Rotterdam Centrum is een samenwerking tussen North Sea Round Town en BIZ Rotterdam Centrum.
During North Sea Round Town, Rotterdam comes alive with Jazz Rotterdam Centrum, a series of live concerts in the heart of the city. Throughout the weekend, open-air performances take place at iconic locations including Central Plaza, Kruiskade, (Korte) Lijnbaan, Binnenwegplein, Coolsingel, Hoogstraat, Koopgoot, Beursplein and the WTC shops. Music appears where you least expect it, as a variety of bands fill the city with warm grooves, jazzy vibes and Brazilian rhythms, with samba as the common thread running through the programme. Jazz Rotterdam Centrum is a collaboration between North Sea Round Town and BIZ Rotterdam Centrum.
