Jazzcafé Dizzy x NSRT: Emergence

Met Emergence hoor je voor het eerst in Nederland een selectie originele composities van de Spaanse trompettist Paco Fdez als bandleider. Het quintet brengt musici met verschillende achtergronden samen, verbonden door hun gezamenlijke tijd als studenten in Nederland. Luisteren, interactie en samenwerking vormen de basis van een sound die beweegt tussen contemporary en avant-garde jazz. Improvisatie speelt daarin een centrale rol: als ruimte voor uitwisseling, interactie en gezamenlijke keuzes tijdens het spelen. Zo blijft de muziek zich live ontwikkelen en telkens nieuwe richtingen opgaan.

With Emergence, you’ll hear a selection of original compositions by Spanish trumpeter Paco Fdez presented in the Netherlands for the first time under his leadership. The quintet brings together musicians from different backgrounds, connected through their shared experience as students in the Netherlands. Listening, interaction and collaboration form the foundation of a sound that moves between contemporary and avant-garde jazz. Improvisation plays a central role throughout the set, creating space for exchange, interaction and shared decision-making in the moment. As a result, the music keeps evolving live and moving in unexpected directions.
