Pianiste Chaerin Im en organist Hayo Boerema ontmoeten elkaar in de eeuwenoude Laurenskerk. Een plek waar het monumentale kerkorgel regelmatig klinkt en de ruimte uitnodigt tot verstilling, reflectie en verwondering. De Laurenskerk vormt het perfecte decor voor een alternatieve lunchervaring. In deze unieke akoestische ontmoeting gaat Chaerin Im de dialoog aan met kerkorganist Hayo Boerema in een duoperformance die de elektronica achterwege laat en terugkeert naar de pure resonantie van piano en orgel.

Samen verkennen zij een geïmproviseerde set, opgebouwd rond gedeelde tooncentra, waarbij de muziek zich in het moment ontvouwt. In plaats van vaste composities beweegt de performance zich als een doorlopende stroom, waarin klankkleur, resonantie en ruimte de leidende elementen zijn. Het resultaat is een immersieve en ambient ervaring, waarin de diepte en grootsheid van het kerkorgel samenkomen met de subtiele, verschuivende lagen van de piano. Binnen dit sonische landschap wordt de performance een moment van stille, contemplatieve reflectie, waarin wordt onderzocht hoe traditionele instrumenten nog altijd een ‘tussenruimte’-identiteit kunnen dragen en tot uitdrukking brengen.

De Laurenskerk is het kloppend hart van Rotterdam. Het enige overgebleven laatgotische gebouw van de stad herinnert aan een tijd waarin waterwegen de stad doorkruisten en handel werd gedreven op markten onder het hoge dak van de kerk. Tegenwoordig is de Laurens een plek voor ontmoeting, reflectie en inspiratie. Hier gaan eeuwenoude geschiedenis en hedendaagse cultuur naadloos in elkaar over. Of het nu gaat om een concert, lezing of congres — de Laurenskerk nodigt uit tot verbinding. Dit concert maakt deel uit van de orgel-lunchconcertserie van de Laurenskerk.
