Phase Shift – A Sonic Collision of Seoul and Rotterdam, Chaerin Im Artist in Focus 2026

Deze zomer staat Chaerin Im centraal als Artist in Focus, met de première van Phase Shift – A Sonic Collision of Seoul and Rotterdam, een nieuw werk in opdracht van North Sea Round Town (première op donderdag 2 juli). Als Artist in Focus maakt zij een gedurfde artistieke beweging: van haar jazzpiano-roots en de Koreaanse klassieke pianoscene naar een elektronisch, synth-heavy geluid dat zich niet laat vangen in één genre. Van Seoul tot de Rotterdamse underground beweegt ze zich met nieuw werk, in verschillende samenstellingen, door de stad en creëert ze haar eigen pad. This summer, Chaerin Im takes center stage as Artist in Focus with the premiere of
Phase Shift – A Sonic Collision of Seoul and Rotterdam (Thursday 2 July). From jazz piano roots and the Korean classical scene to a bold, synth-driven sound, her work moves freely between worlds and genres. From Seoul to the Rotterdam underground, she builds her own path across the city in different formations. Not without reason, she was named Young Artist of the Year 2024 by NRC.
