Jazz op de Meent: Indra Diallo & Pape Seck I

Indra Diallo is een Nederlands-Guinese harpiste, kunstenares en harptherapeute die West-Afrikaanse tradities verweeft met neoklassieke invloeden en blues. Vanuit haar Fula-roots en geïnspireerd door helende tradities ontwikkelde zij een intuïtieve compositiestijl die een uniek en herkenbaar geluid voortbrengt binnen de hedendaagse harpwereld. Met haar muziek nodigt zij luisteraars uit om de verbinding met hun familiegeschiedenis, culturele wortels en innerlijke identiteit te onderzoeken.

Haar persoonlijke rootsreis bracht haar naar Senegal en Guinee, waar zij delen van haar debuutalbum The Foundationopnam. Tijdens dit concert presenteert zij de eerste hoofdstukken van dit muzikale verhaal in aanloop naar de albumrelease in september 2026.

Aan haar zijde staat Pape Seck, een gerenommeerde Senegalese percussionist en griot met meer dan dertig jaar professionele ervaring. Als afstammeling van een familie van verhalenvertellers draagt hij een rijke muzikale en culturele traditie met zich mee. Voor Indra was hij een belangrijke mentor in het leren van West-Afrikaanse ritmes, verhalen en tradities.

Samen brengen zij een bijzondere ontmoeting tussen harp, traditionele Guinese en Senegalese percussie, kalebasdrums en orale vertelkunst. Hun muziek verbindt intergenerationele wijsheid, persoonlijke verhalen en helende melodieën in een intieme en meeslepende live-ervaring.

Indra Diallo is a Dutch-Guinean harpist, artist and therapeutic harp practitioner who blends West African traditions with neo-classical influences and blues. Rooted in her Fula heritage and inspired by healing traditions, she has developed an intuitive compositional style that creates a distinctive sound within the contemporary harp landscape. Through her music, she invites audiences to reconnect with their family histories, cultural roots and inner identity.

Her own journey of rediscovering her roots led her to Senegal and Guinea, where she recorded parts of her debut album The Foundation. During this performance, she shares the first chapters of that story ahead of the album’s release in September 2026.

Joining her is Pape Seck, an acclaimed Senegalese percussionist and griot with more than thirty years of professional experience. Coming from a lineage of traditional storytellers, he carries a deep musical and cultural heritage. For Indra, he has been an important teacher and mentor in learning West African rhythms, traditions and storytelling practices.

Together, they create a unique dialogue between harp, traditional Guinean and Senegalese percussion, calabash drums and oral storytelling. Their performance weaves together intergenerational wisdom, personal stories and healing melodies, resulting in an intimate and captivating musical experience.
