De opening van het vernieuwde Prins Alexanderplein wordt gevierd met een weekend vol kunst, film, muziek en ontmoeting. Prins Alexander Pleinbioscoop, Galerie NOIR NOIR en verschillende culturele en maatschappelijke partners bundelen hun krachten om het stationsgebied van Rotterdam Alexander te laten uitgroeien tot een levendige plek voor cultuur, verbinding en talentontwikkeling.

De tweede avond van de Prins Alexander Pleinbioscoop staat in het teken van doorzettingsvermogen, muziek en populaire cultuur.

De avond opent met Kaya Ta Nos Arena van de Curaçaose regisseur Ramses Petronia. De film volgt de tienjarige Chikí, die droomt van een carrière als profvoetballer terwijl hij opgroeit in een omgeving waarin keuzes niet altijd vanzelfsprekend zijn. Een indringend coming-of-age verhaal over ambitie, vriendschap en loyaliteit, dat extra actueel aanvoelt nu Curaçao als kleinste land ooit deelneemt aan het WK voetbal van 2026.

Daarna volgt een verrassingsfilm: een iconische muziekcultklassieker uit 1988 waarin muziek, dans en sciencefiction samensmelten tot een unieke filmervaring. Met baanbrekende choreografieën, tijdloze hits en een visuele stijl die generaties artiesten heeft beïnvloed, vervaagt de grens tussen cinema, muziekvideo en popcultuur.

The opening of the renewed Prins Alexanderplein will be celebrated with a weekend full of art, film, music and community. Prins Alexander Open-Air Cinema, Galerie NOIR NOIR and various cultural and social partners join forces to help transform the Rotterdam Alexander station area into a vibrant place for culture, connection and talent development.

The second evening of the Prins Alexander Open-Air Cinema focuses on perseverance, music and popular culture.

The evening opens with Kaya Ta Nos Arena by Curaçaoan director Ramses Petronia. The film follows ten-year-old Chikí, who dreams of becoming a professional football player while growing up in an environment where choices are rarely straightforward. A compelling coming-of-age story about ambition, friendship and loyalty, made even more relevant by Curaçao’s historic participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The programme continues with a surprise film: an iconic 1988 cult classic in which music, dance and science fiction merge into a unique cinematic experience. Featuring groundbreaking choreography, timeless hits and a visual style that has inspired generations of artists, the film blurs the boundaries between cinema, music video and pop culture.
